Chief
Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani, as the Leader of the Legislative Assembly, in a
statement on the first day of the seventh session of the Fourteenth Legislative
Assembly under Rule-3, announced a generous package to the sons of the state
against crop loss due to heavy rains in kharif season this year.
The Chief
Minister said that this farmer friendly government of the state has always been
a sensitive government that stood by the farmers in their time of need.
In this
regard, Shri Vijaybhai Rupani added that in the month of August 2020, in some
talukas of the state, due to heavy rains, the crops have been damaged due to
flooding of the fields.

The aid
package has been given in response to the representations made by the farmers,
farmers' organizations and people's representatives of the state to the state
government to provide assistance against these losses.
In a statement
made in the Legislative Assembly under Rule 3, the Chief Minister said,
"The onset of monsoon in the state this year was well and timely. In the
early stages, the rains were favorable for agriculture and all the districts of
the state had very good production conditions.
However,
heavy rains lashed some talukas of the state during the month of August and
there were reports of crop damage due to flooding.
Apart
from this, representations have also been made by farmers, farmers'
organizations, people's representatives. In which mainly crops like groundnut,
cotton, paddy, sesame, millet, pulses, vegetables etc. have been damaged.
The state
government has repeatedly announced that the state government was considering
providing assistance to farmers in the state in case of crop loss of 3% and
above.
In the
year 2015-16, when there was a drought-like situation, 21 talukas of the state
were declared drought-hit and 6 talukas were affected and it was decided to
provide assistance to the farmers to help them in the loss of crops.
Even in
the year 2020, the loss due to non-seasonal rains in the state covering all the
farmers of the state is Rs. A historic "agricultural aid package" of
Rs 3700 crore was announced.
Now, even
in the current year, in some talukas during the kharif season, Ta. As per the
assessment of the survey conducted by the Department of Agriculture regarding
the damage done as on 18-09-2050, out of the estimated 21 lakh hectare of
cultivated area in 127 talukas of 20 districts of the state, approximately 37
lakh hectare area will be eligible for assistance.
For this
Rs. An aid package of Rs 3700 crore has been announced to help farmers in the
state.In case of crop loss of 33% and above, a maximum of Rs. 10,000 per
hectare will be paid. In addition, even if the farmer has as little land as he
wants, he should be paid at least Rs. The state government has decided to pay
Rs 5,000.
his
assistance package will benefit about 27 lakh farmer account holders in the
state.
Not only
that, if there is an assessment of crop loss in other talukas of the state, the
state government will also consider it.
The
portal will be open from 1-10-2020 to apply online for this assistance. In
order to apply online, farmers have to apply from the nearest e-gram center.
